Friday the 13th: Why Even Rational People Pause for a Second.

Today is Friday the 13th.
We live in a world that celebrates logic, data and rational thinking.
Executives, entrepreneurs, analysts and decision-makers pride themselves on making choices based on facts, numbers and clear reasoning.
And yet, something curious happens.
Even the most rational person may glance at the calendar and think:
"Ah… today is Friday the 13th."
Why does that happen?
Why Friday the 13th Still Fascinates Us
Friday the 13th has long been associated with superstition.
For centuries, people have believed that the number thirteen carries a particular symbolic weight. In many cultures, it is seen as a number that breaks order and certainty.
Superstition, in its simplest form, means believing in something that cannot always be explained by logic.
It does not necessarily mean irrationality. It simply means acknowledging that some things operate outside the strict boundaries of pure reasoning.
And deep down, most of us know this.
Superstition and the Limits of Pure Logic
There are domains where logic works perfectly.
Engineering.
Mathematics.
But there are also areas of life where logic alone does not fully explain what happens.
Relationships.
Human intuition.
Complex decisions involving people and timing.
In these moments, something else often enters the equation.
Call it intuition.
Call it perception.
Call it pattern recognition.
Whatever the name, it is something that operates alongside logic.
The Hidden Role of Intuition in Decision-Making
For many years, I worked in environments where decisions were expected to be entirely rational.
Data, analysis, negotiations and strategic thinking were part of everyday professional life.
And yet, in those very environments, I noticed something interesting.
Some of the most successful decision-makers did not rely on logic alone.
They also listened to something harder to quantify.
A subtle sense of timing.
A perception of underlying dynamics.
An intuitive reading of situations and people.
Logic provided structure.
But intuition often provided direction.
Why Leaders Often Sense More Than They Admit
Many leaders would never openly describe themselves as superstitious.
And yet, most of them know that important decisions rarely emerge from logic alone.
Sometimes we sense that something is not aligned.
Sometimes we feel that a certain opportunity carries unexpected potential.
These impressions often arise before we can fully explain them.
The rational mind eventually catches up.
But intuition often arrives first.
Exploring What Lies Beyond Logic
Friday the 13th is an interesting reminder of this paradox.
Even in a rational world, we occasionally pause and acknowledge that not everything can be reduced to pure logic.
Some dimensions of life operate in subtler ways.
Understanding those dimensions does not replace logic.
It complements it.
For those who are curious about exploring decisions from a different perspective, I share this approach through my work as a Strategic Tarot Advisor and through private tarot readings designed to illuminate complex decisions.
